Help Us Build a New Future for HLAA-WA: Be Part of Our Next Chapter
By Cheri Perazzoli
Today, HLAA-WA is looking ahead to its next chapter and preparing for a leadership transition. We’re thinking not only about who will lead us, but also about how we can build a strong team to carry our mission forward.
After many rewarding years in HLAA-WA leadership and service, I’ll be transitioning from the president role, which I’ve been honored to be in since 2019. I’ll remain involved as past president, providing continuity and support as the new leadership team gets established.
This is a good time for everyone to think about where we might be willing to step in and contribute.
We’re looking for people who are interested in Board and leadership roles, as well as people who would like to take on meaningful roles through committees, strategic planning, fundraising, outreach, communications, advocacy, and other areas of the organization.
We’re especially interested in hearing from people who might consider serving as our next Vice President and President. Of course, leadership doesn’t have to mean taking on everything at once. One of the goals of this transition is to distribute the work among Board members, officers, committees, volunteers, and contractors so that no one person carries the entire load.

Currently, we’re looking for help with…
- A Board President to start in April 2027
- A Board Vice President to start anytime
- Communications Committee members, especially people to write blog posts, help with social media, edit and film videos, and proofread and copy edit materials. We also welcome committee members to provide feedback and strategic advice at quarterly meetings.
- Fundraising Committee members, including people with experience in grant writing, planned giving, and fundraising events.
- Outreach Committee members, including those interested in our new Speaker’s Bureau program.
- Tech Committee members, especially people skilled in Sharepoint and hearing-access technologies.
Whether you’re ready to take on a leadership role, would like to contribute in another way, or know someone who might be a good fit, please reach out to Susan Hoxie, chair of our Nominations Committee, hoxiesusan@gmail.com, or Julie Johnson, volunteer manager, jjohnson@hearingloss-wa.org.
My years with HLAA-WA have been incredibly rewarding, and I’ve made friendships that will last a lifetime. I’m proud to be part of a community of people who care deeply about the hearing loss community, and I’m excited about what we can build together.
The Board of Directors and I hope you’ll consider joining us and being part of HLAA-WA’s next chapter.
