The results of our survey are in! Last month, 228 of you, our members and friends, responded to our survey. Here’s what you told us.

You and How We Can Help You

• Nearly 60% of you are working full time or part time. Most of you wear some type of hearing aid or cochlear implant, and two-thirds of you have a telecoil.

• You’re taking charge of your hearing loss: More than 75% of you request hearing accommodations when you’re out and about. Most of you request an assistive listening system or captions. Congratulations!

• You’d like a written guide, a webinar, and in-person role playing and practice to help you ask for what you need.
  
  
• You’d also like more information on communication tips, assistive listening devices and systems, and hearing loss research trends and findings.

Hearing Aid Coverage: More, Please!

• Many of you aren’t satisfied with your hearing aid insurance coverage: Only 30% of you believe you have adequate insurance coverage for your hearing. You’d also like more information about the new hearing aid insurance laws.

Advocacy

• Workplace, healthcare, hearing care, and insurance coverage improvements are your most important advocacy concerns.
  
• Almost all of you are willing to advocate for yourself and others! Watch for specific opportunities coming soon.

Building Community and Getting Social

• You’d like to help us with our community outreach!

• You want to get social: You’d also like to join other people with hearing loss at a movie, live theater, or music event with live captioning and assistive listening systems.

This January, our board and other key volunteers will have a strategic planning meeting. Your survey feedback will help us create a workplan, programs, and services goals that best help you.
